Playhouse Update!

You guys! The playhouse is coming along. It is painted, has a green door like our front door, and it was sealed and made bug proof so carpet could be installed! Underneath the porch, husband even installed pavers to help with the mess of tracking stuff in on the carpet. (I can't believe I'm typing that for a playhouse). Of course, I just typed that and it gets more astonishing. Husband was playing with C in the playhouse and noted that despite having the windows open when it was warmer out, it was SWELTERING in the house. Husband decided that wouldn't do, because how was little C supposed to play in there all summer? He did the next logical thing. Yup, he installed an air conditioner. Seriously.

We are those people.

Anyway, it looks awesome, and Camden LOVES it. That's the important part. We have moved some toys outside and he asks to go out there as soon as he wakes up. It's adorable.

Progress Report

This past weekend was semi-uneventful at our house. And uneventful is good! We had no real plans but to work on Camden's playhouse, go to church, get the boys haircuts and to hang out. I love weekends like that!

Boys got all trimmed up and the playhouse go some walls/windows and trim pieces put up. It won't be long before it is finished completely. Hopefully it will get shingles this weekend and we will be close to finishing up the playhouse part. He's pretty darn cute playing in it - and it is a decent size. I can already picture him camping out in there during the summer. It really is that awesome!

Fun, huh? Excited for it to be finished. Hopefully it'll get shingles soon, and then the carpet will go in!

Progress as Promised!

Project Number One made some good progress this weekend! It took a while to lay it out and decide the best arrangement. In the end, we went with this arrangement. It still needs tweaking, I think we are going to blow up the one 4x6 of the metalwork of the bridge into a 5x7 and put in the same spot, and we will be good to go.

Not too bad though for our little Australia collage, no?!?

What A Difference A Rained Out Daytona 500 Makes..

I wrote yesterday's post a day early, and had it scheduled to post. When I had written it, we were still parking around the playhouse (project number 2) in the garage.

Then came Daytona 500 day. Husband and his father had decided to work on the playhouse for "a few hours until the race starts".

And then, it rained in Daytona. But the weather here was gorgeous, sunny and 65 degrees. So they worked. all. day. long.

And progress was made!! Camden LOVES it and it isn't even close to finished.

This was a super easy make, and I did enjoy doing it. I got the fabrics super cheap at JoAnns, and the shirt was on clearance at Target. It was so easy in fact, I may consider making a Christmas one!

I am looking forward to this Thursday, Camden has Thanksgiving luncheon at daycare that family gets to attend. Camden is going to sport his Thanksgiving shirt, and I am so excited!!

What do ya think? I think that blue is really going to pop.

Initially, I was not a fan. It just looked so ABC123 teacher-ish blue. I felt like it needed to have a green leg and a red leg and a yellow leg. You know what I mean? I was regretting not picking the turquoise-ish blue. But - I was afraid the turquoise-ish color would remind me too much of an old lady. That it wouldn't look like I(read:Chris) updated the chair at all, and I wanted it to look fresh.

But the more I look at the way this color photographs, I think it will make Little C's eyes really pop. I think I will get the effect I want in my pictures. I can't wait to finish it up and get snap happy. Hopefully a teething little monkey will cooperate!

The current project..

As you know, Husband and I usually have some sort of project going on at our house. I use the word I loosely, it's not like I actually have any claim to these projects. They are more often than not husband's bright idea brought to fruition. These bright ideas have ranged from our gorgeous new master bath, to our very handy homemade babygate. Note: I like running the word 'babygate' together, it sounds like 'Watergate' or something equally as political that always has "-gate" attached to it.

Our current project (Read: My idea, husband's labor. Who are we kidding, we all know he needs something to do..) My awesome friend Malissa does fantastic furniture refinishing work and can craft just about anything under the sun. She is multi-talented, but is most awesome for scoring me this fantastic wood high chair for the sweet price of FIVE DOLLARS. Woot! This high chair is gorgeous, the perfect size and even better the perfect price. We (Read: Husband) has been spending his time and money (did I mention that the paint stripper and lead paint tester has cost us already twice as much as what we paid for the chair??) to completely sand this bad boy down.

And this is when we brought out the big guns. That's right, the power washer. This power washer is such a beast that if it was set to high they noticed they were carving streaks into the wood. Oops! It also did a pretty good job of tearing up the grass. We had the paint about all peeled off, and we were doing some finishing sanding on it when husband decided using the monstrous power washer actually made the chair too "wobbly". (Read: you could jiggle it a little. Those of you that know my husband know this is NOT acceptable). So he has proceeded to take it completely apart, sand all the little pieces and he wants to glue it back together nice and sturdy.

I am so excited about all of the progress on this cute little photo prop of mine. So, this leads me to the final question...what color? We are thinking blues. A bright blue? The other option is of course, orange. Suggestions??
