Day in the Life: Fall 2012

This is a post about a Day In Our Life - Fall Edition. Linking up with Laura at Navigating the Mothership.

I documented Saturday, October 20th.

I'll mention that the entire weekend was a whirlwind of busy, and that Friday night we drove round trip to Stillwater to partake in the awesome activties that are OSU walkarounds and enjoyed the housedecs. Afterwards we met up with friends, so we didn't get home until 12:30 or so.

Saturday Morning started off bright and early, a little too early for my liking.

8AM - Woke up to an empty bed, Husband had already gotten up, fed the dog and made himself eggs. He then agreed to make me some eggs as well, but I forgot to take a picture of it. It was super yummy Egg in a Hole toast.

830- Up and attempting to dress and put on my face. Fixing my hair.

900 - Leave the house, dressed and ready for the pumpkin patch. New camera in tow - so I can practice with it.

915 - Arrive at the in-laws to pick up the kid. We change him into a cute button up shirt - to which he throws a fit about having to change. We note that his cheeks are rosy and he is a little warm to touch, as well as extra snotty. Thanks teething. He still has one canine that has yet to poke through the surface. It surely won't be long. After epic meltdown and attempt to get the kid to calm by bribing with fruit snacks and other candy we head out of the house.

We drive to the pumpkin patch, and discuss where it is. Husband pulls off at the little roadside stand area that sells pumpkins. I disagree because how are they going to have camels and ponies here? Text a few friends and find out the exact location. Drive another three miles to more acreage where we find success. Crowded success.

945- We are here! We park and then begin the trek to the pumpkins. Camden is absolutely adorable when he says "Pumpkin" as it comes out like "Punkin". Love it.  He climbs all over them, refusing to hold still for a picture. Of course why would he cooperate? We show him the outdoor hay bale maze for little kids. He insists on going with the Husband first. After that he runs around and around and around, going again and again. We are able to sit on the hay bales and just watch. It was fantastic. We walk around and pet the other animals. Goats, alpacas and even a huge tortise. We show him the darkened maze. He goes in with Husband multiple times before daring to run in alone. He doesn't come out for a long time, so husband sends me in with my iPhone flashlight. I go in and hear people accuse me of "cheating". Ha! I can't find my kid, no judgies! Finally I catch a glimpse of his plaid and I call to him, and of course he runs away from me and towards the exit. I'm slightly irritated but mostly thankful, as it was pretty sweltering in the dark tent with haybales and lots of bodies.

We continue to walk around and look at the ponies and the camels. Camden keeps asking to "ride the pony". Someone walks by us talking to their kid about "riding the pony" and Camden answers her questions with an "OKAY!". We let him pick between pony and camel. He chooses ponies. We head back to pick out the pretty pumpkin we want. It's so stinkin' pretty. We pay for the pumpkin and then also buy a pony ride. Husband carries the big pumpkin all the way back out to the car, while Camden and I wait in the mile long line for the ponies. Finally after what felt like ages, Husband comes back. He takes Camden back to the hay bale maze and to see various things while I continue to wait in line. After what feels like an eternity, it is time. Camden walks up there and like a big boy lets the older gentleman put him on the pony. I ask the pony's name, it's Cherokee a cute little brown and white pony. Camden has on his serious face while riding the pony. In fact, I think he looks downright angry. Apparently that was just his focus face. He was focused the ENTIRE time. He would walk by and I would ask "are you riding the pony?" And all he could do was give me a serious and slow nod. It was adorable. He looked so big up there all by himself! He was so excited to ride them, and then so serious when he was done.  Love that kid.

We finally decide it's time to head out. We walk through the building selling jams and brittle and take a look, and stop and take pictures with some more pumpkins on the way out.

1145 - Finally get back to the car. Decide we should feed the kid before dropping him back off with the in laws.

12 - Arrive at Charlie's Chicken, which seems to be our go to eat out place. It has mashed potatoes, okra and ice cream. That's about all he will eat there. We take turns trying to bribe him into eating, notice he's talking less and less. Must be getting tired. I bust out my camera and fiddle with it while I take some pictures.

A weird Chicken. WTG Charlies!

1245 - Arrive back at in laws. Change Camden into comfy nap clothes and see if he wants anything else to eat before giving him some milk and laying him down.

115 - Tell Husband we better bust a move. We need to head home, let the dog out (since she's been having extra potty problems lately) and change if needed and head out.

215 - After doing all of that we leave the house and run to pick up my Mom at the Mall. We arrive a little early and run into Hallmark so I can get my ornament that goes along with the series I am collecting. Disney/Pixar and this years ornament is from Monsters Inc. We get in line and bust out our ornament card - to which they tell us they expire after two years so we can not add any stamps to it. Well my friends, that is just CHEAP. Who is going to buy 12 ornaments in the span of two years to get ten dollars off one? Not many people. I mean really, Joann's Hallmark. Really? That's just weak.

3- Grab my mom and head out to the casino. My Dad got us tickets to see Jeff Foxworthy and we were pretty excited for the getaway. It started at four and we arrived at 320 or so. Meet up with my dad and he tells us there was an issue with the other tickets, so he managed to use his smooth skills to get us upgraded to SUITE tickets. Yes, that's right! We get up there and there is TONS of food, desserts and drinks. All of it was free. It was fantastic! I nibbled on a little of everything and a couple extra of the desserts. The cake pops? Were moist and perfect, absolutely to die for. Before we knew it, it was showtime!

This is what a free drink looks like.

4- Jeff comes out and begins his show. He's super hilarious, and I love listening to him tell his stories. He swears that most of it is real life and that makes it even better.  A joke that I found really funny was a redneck joke at the end. He said "If your son's name is Dale JR, and your name isn't Dale.....you might be a redneck". HAHAHA!!!
It looks far, but it was awesome. And Suites for the price? WIN.

5:30 - show ended. We already had plans to go to the buffet in the casino - so we went and carb loaded on up. It was SO good, and I was SO full. I ate a fajita, BBQ chicken, chips and queso, and I probably had two dessert plates. It was SO good I had trouble deciding! After the buffet we decided to check out the new part of the casino and so we headed up to check that out and watched my Dad play some video blackjack for an hour or so.

Amazing. You could pick as many as you wanted!

By this point it was about 7:30. We pick up our car from valet, head back to town to pick up our little munchkin. When we arrive all the way across town its close to 8, little man tells us "no, I wanna stay with mama and papa". He loves it over there, it's pretty cute. We drag him out and make it home to watch Bubble Guppies and play with him for a while.

9:30 - Little man goes to sleep.

10:00 - Husband and I follow shortly after. We had a busy evening the night before, and a just as busy day. However, I wouldn't trade it for the world!

A Day in the Life: August 10

I decided to participate in a day in the life series with Navigating the Mothership. I meant to do this the past weekend, but I forgot, so I decided to participate today - when I was off work and it was just me and Little C at home during the day.

Here we go!!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10

1:30 AM: Camden cries out in his sleep and it wakes me. He does this more often than I like, it wakes me every time. I listen to see if he keeps fussing or puts himself back to sleep.  90% of the time, he goes back to sleep on his own. He stays quiet, so I lay in bed trying to put myself to sleep. Decide to get up and pee and then go back to sleep.

3:36 AM: Camden cries out again. I listen to see if sounds like he's getting sick again. He doesn't sound sick, but he keeps crying. This time I go into his room and he's sitting up in bed fussing. I pick him up and hold him, he immediately puts his head on my shoulder. I sit and rock him for a few minutes while he calms, he fidgets around. After ten minutes I decide to lay him down even though he won't hold still. I expect more fussing but he snuggles down into his pillow. I return to bed where I can't fall asleep. I check my phone. Finally get sleepy after pinteresting for a few minutes.

6 AMish: Husband gives me a kiss goodbye to say he's leaving for work.

6:24 AM: Camden fusses and decides he's up for the day. I get him some milk in a sippy and get him out of bed, change his diaper and turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the TV. He fusses demanding Bubble Guppies, but I hold firm. I tell him to stay here and play. To my surprise, he obeys and I lay back down until 7:30.

7:30 AM: I hear him singing "Ot Dog, Ot Dog" to the Hot Dog Dance, and it's precious. I get up and see him grinning in his room. We head to the kitchen to get together some breakfast and more milk. He requests Bubble Guppies and I comply, that way he sits in his high chair and I can unload the dishwasher, rotate laundry, eat my own breakfast and start typing this blogpost. His breakfast is bananas with peanut butter, peanut butter cheerios and some yogurt. My breakfast is a bowl of cereal and a little of the banana I cut for him.

8:30 AM: He is still in his high chair watching Bubble Guppies. Why? Because that way I can guarantee he's in one spot while I get ready for the day. I fix my hair which takes a good episode of Bubble Guppies and is the smartest thing I can do since you can't hear anything when under the blowdryer. I get him ready for the day.

9:00 AM: I call and cancel our lawn service. They have been sucking and we can do the same for cheaper. They were supposed to be spraying for weeds, and instead my husband has been sitting in his yard and pulling them by hand. That's some sort of dedication.

My OOTD. Comfy tee, curly hair, wild toddler.

He didn't want to hold still for me. Can you tell?

9:30 AM: We finally make it out of the house. We head to Hobby Lobby to return some items. After returning the items we walk the entire store. For no particular reason except to possibly garner inspiration. I find that Christmas lights are already out.

At Hob Lob

10:30 AM: We leave Hobby Lobby, go back home and get Pearl. We drive back to the park in the neighborhood and play there until ten after 11. We both start getting hot and it's time for lunch.

My busy body

He's yelling - "Hiiii Moooom!"

Being a big independent almost 2 year old..

Oh, he melts my heart!

Pearl was indifferent. Too busy smelling to stop and smile.

11:30AM: Lunch. Camden gets left over pizza, applesauce and raisins and dried blueberries. I eat the same pizza and cherries. We watch some Bubble Guppies and drink milk. (notice a pattern about the Bubble Guppies? He's severely addicted. We may need an intervention).

12:30PM: Camden finally in bed for nap, after cleaning up lunch, peeing on the potty, and doing our naptime routine. I listen to him holler and clap and tell me "I yah you" (I love you) before drifting off. Free time means Mom watches last night episode of Big Brother, makes the grocery list after pinteresting some recipes and resting myself.

3:00 PM: I wake up out of my nap, decide to facebook a little, and am very surprised little man isn't up yet. He must have needed the sleep.

I find this while pinteresting and have a good LOL.

3:45 PM: I piddled around and did laundry. Finally, I hear Camden in his room. I go get him, get him up and change his diaper. He fusses and I can't figure out what he's saying. Come to find out, he wanted to pee on the big potty. So, he pees, gets his M&Ms and then we get him dressed and packed and we head out the door.

Up from nap- mm Milk!

4:10 PM: We are finally in the car and headed to the store. Once there, I'm on a mission to get stuff, before Camden gets fussy and the party is over. I haul through there, letting him throw things into the cart behind him seems to keep him entertained. I promise him a cookie at the end if he's good, he signs cookie and I keep reminding him to obey. It works, and he ends up getting his cookie from the bakery. We check out and head home, to find Husband mowing the yard.

He loves to help "blow blow"

Clapping because he helped "blow blow"

He is SO big now!

5:30 PM: I unload the groceries out of the car while Camden and Husband "mow mow". Husband fires up the grill in the process of mowing the backyard and I set up chicken and steaks to be grilled.

I update my kitchen art.

6:00 PM: Continue mowing and grilling. I pick up the kitchen a little bit.

I notice my moonplant has made cool spikeyball things.

which then makes these seeds and drops them...

6:30 PM: Eating dinner finally, while Husband waters the lawn. We catch up on our days, make plans for the weekend.

Dinner

Finishing dinner

7:15 PM: We decide it's too nice and cool to stay in. After the high only being 93 degrees, it was still hot but it sure didn't feel it. It was a welcome relief. Camden was obsessed with finding the moon, unfortunately we never found it.

Yelling - "come on mama"

Sunset is extra gorgeous

Pausing during our walk for a pic

8:00PM: We finish up our walk and are back outside in the yard. A neighbor that goes to one of our church campuses pulls and and hops out of his car to talk and we catch up while little C runs circles around us.

Still looking for the moon.

8:45 PM: We shower and get ready for bed. Camden gets some more milk and we chill for  a bit. I clip his nails and mine, as well as remove my toenail polish and it leaves much to be desired. Time for a fresh coat, uhhh....eventually.

9:20PM: We do Camden's bed time routine, say good night to Pearl, his animals, cars and Curious George on his wall, give kisses, pray and say "AMEN", more kisses and then lay him down.

9:40 PM: I work on typing this since I'm going to be super busy at work tomorrow. Want to get this posted!

11PM: By the time I get everything together it's 11. And 445 comes early. Night!!

A Day in the Life: Sunday, October 2nd.

I debated on whether or not I wanted to chronicle a day in our life. I mean, heck, we aren't that interesting. I knew a day at work was going to be the epitome of boring (Not to mention, HIPPA!!!), so on a whim I decided to do it on our lazy Sunday.

We woke up at 7:15. Camden woke us up, of course.

I made breakfast of waffles and Chris cooked some bacon. This is our leftovers.

10 am - After cleaning the kitchen up, Camden and I went to his room to put up his summer clothes and his clothes that no longer fit. I would be lying if I said I didn't get a little choked up putting away his nine month onesies from last winter. Wasn't that just yesterday?

While Camden and I went through his clothes, husband went outside to work on recaulking and repainting the house for the winter. After we finished up in the bedroom Camden was more than ready to go play outside.

We picked flowers.

We retrieved the watering can from the garage, carried it all the way around the house and watered our plants.

We played with the drain.

my busy boy even knows to shut the gate!

Before we knew it, it was lunch time. Lunch was at 11:15, we had some soup that I threw in the crock pot the night before. It was a super easy recipe and it turned out to be a delicious, creamy soup. (Big thanks to Pinterest for the recipe!!) Since Camden only has two teeth, it seemed ideal for him to eat. He hasn't really been a huge fan of chicken, but the kid made a happy plate after I sat this in front of him.

We've been working on using a spoon when we eat....

That worked for like one bite. Oh well.

After lunch, it was naptime. Husband finally cease and desisted of the hammering so that little one could nap. He napped from noon to 2:15.

During naptime, Husband and I cleaned up our messes, put up laundry, swept and discussed when in the world we thought it would be fun to add another little one to the family. The conclusion? NOT YET. Husband spent the rest of the free time flipping between Nascar and Cowboy football. I played around on the computer, burned a CD and edited some pictures. Before we knew it...we got our beckon from the back of the house.

2:15pm - This is our just woke up from nap face. He fusses so that you are aware that you need to come get him, then turns to smiles.

Note the blankie. He really does look like Linus.

He was excited to see Daddy after nap.

And still yawning...

He begged for a snack, he had a few cornbread crackers from Target. If you have not tried these, beware. They are delicious! Pearl was in on the begging too, and of course she benefitted as well. And the blankie did too.

After snack we gathered our stuff and we went to my in-law's house. We usually visit on Sundays sometime and during the summer we took advantage of swimming. Of course, I forgot my camera so my horrible iPhone pics will have to suffice.

We arrived around 3:30 and played outside. The weather was simply gorgeous. Camden loves wandering the backyard there. We chased him all over and played on the slide a bit.

This is when my Father in law said, "That kid could walk over a watermelon". So true. The doctor reminded me again to take a video and watch it in six months and compare.

We ate dinner around 4:30. It was spaghetti. Camden was not so thrilled with his choices, apparently.

Afterwards Chris got a haircut from his Mom and Camden and I played with all of the toys that stored away in the spare bedroom for this purpose. Camden found the fan to be the most enjoyable.

Then it was time to head home. Little mister was dozing before we were out of the neighborhood. Once home I had to wake him up, bathe him and then put him in his PJs.

Pretty sure he already hates me for this picture. Seriously.

New PJs that were on sale. So cute. I love my little monkey. Again, note the blankie. Little Linus.

7:15 - Camden is in bed after his nightly bottle and mineral oil in his ear. Yes, I said bottle. So sue me. Pretty sure it's one of my favorite times, so I'm not ready to give that up just yet. Mineral oil was just to dislodge the clot.

7:20 - Mom does laundry, Dad makes lunches for the next day.

7:45 - We sit down to watch a little of the Amazing Race.

8:30 - Shower and relax. Throw stuff together for the next day. (i.e.- Make sure Camden's diaper bag is packed, pack work bag)

9:35 - bed.

And there you have it ladies and gents. A day in our life, lazy Sunday style! I slacked and completely forgot to take self portraits! Oops! Better luck next time.
